Flying to Bangkok

Thai Airways fly from Phuket to Bangkok 16 x daily from approx.
7.00 - 19.45, and at 21.30 in 80 Min.A oneway ticket costs about
3025 Baht = approx. 66 Euro.

Business Class 4025 Baht = approx. 87 Euro.
Bangkok Airways fly twice daily for the same price.
Local companies like Air Asia and Nok Air are cheaper, but fly to the old airport of Don Muang.

Booking over the Internet works, but it takes a while to insert ones personal data the first time, but on becoming a customer thereafter makes this easier. Momentarily credit cards are not accepted with Nok Air.
The earlier you book, the cheaper the flight. It's best to book each flight separately. One way currently costs around 32 - 38 Euro.

Ther are exchanges in the Phuket International Airport where smaller amounts of money can be exchanged at the present official rates

Taking the Bus to Bangkok :

Taking the H4 highway from Chumphon to Bangkok where the highway goes through, the distance from Khao Lak is 787 km. The night bus takes about 11 hours and allows for food breaks and stops

You can book with any travel agency in Khao Lak, and take the comfortable AC- night bus from Phuket Central Tour, which leaves at 17.00, 50 m south of Nang Tong Supermarket. You will arrive early in the morning in Bangkok at the Southern Bus Station.

The ticket costs 586 Baht, plus a small charge for the travel agency. Simple but comfortable busses ( ac2 ) leave from Khao Lak-bus station BoKoSo at : 10.20, 11.20, 12.30, 14.20, 15.30, 17.00, 17.45, 19.00 and 20.00

The more luxurious VIP Bus " 999 " from Phuket to Bangkok has only 24 seats ( 3 per row ). It leaves at the same time, takes 11 hours and costs 1045 Baht from Phuket and Khao Lak

Taking the Train to Bangkok:

To take a night train to Bangkok's train station, you must take the bus Nr, 465 to Surat Thani (Train Station, Phunpin). The only day time through train to Bankok ( a Sprinter ), leaves Surat Thani at
10.45 and arrives in Bangkok at 19.45.

The most comfortable 1.Class ac- sleeper costs 1139 - 1339 Baht, depending on the type of train.

The cheapest train ( 3.Class ), costs 297 Baht with a.c., and 217 Baht with fan. Blue trains are recommended. ( Price stand 30.3.2013 )

Mini Buses :

In Khao Lak there is a mini bus leaving for Phuket and Patong twice daily for 800 Baht p.p.

Many mini buses leave for places in the South, Bangkok and Malaysia. Every travel agent will be happy to book you a ticket. Buses leave around 8.00 - 11.00.

For example, a bus to Satun on the border to Malasia, leaves at 8.00 and arrives 7 hours later, costing 750 Baht.
If you wish to go to Langkawi, you will need to stay the night in Satun for 300 - 600 Baht, and can travel on by boat the next morning at 9.00, for 250 Baht. A more comfortable way of getting to Langkawi, is by taking the Tiger Line Boat from Chalong Pier on Phuket, stopping at Ko Lanta and Ko Lipe on the way.
